



The Tallangatta Medical Centre has achieved General Practice accreditation with the Australian General Practice Accredited Ltd (AGPAL). The Centre is co-located at the Tallangatta Health Service site. Parking is available adjacent to the building or on Barree Street with Disabled Parking directly outside the front door. The team at the Medical Centre are employed by the Tallangatta Health Service (THS) and consists of 1 fulltime and 1 part time Doctor, registered nurses, a practice manager and two part time receptionists.
Services Available
- Routine GP medical services are available with referrals to relevant medical specialists in Albury-Wodonga or larger centres being made for ongoing care and advice.
- Royal Flying Doctor service visits every 6 – 8 weeks for women's health and/or referral to the Women’s Health Nurse.
- Australian Immunisation vaccinations are available to both children and adults including flu and pneumonia.
- Referral to in-house services: dietician, podiatry, physiotherapy, diabetic and asthma education, occupational therapy, district nursing, home and community services are available.
Surgery Hours
Monday to Friday 9am – 1.15pm and 1.45 till 5pm. Appointments are necessary and can be made by telephoning 02 6071 5270. Please advise the receptionist of your anticipated needs so sufficient time is allocated. Full medical examinations, insurance examinations, removal of lesions etc. require a double time booking. Whilst the doctors aim to keep patients waiting times as short as possible, delays may occur if doctors are called to manage urgent cases or emergencies.
Privacy and Confidentiality of Health Information
All Staff maintain privacy and confidentiality of your medical record at all times. Access to any information held by the services is only available to authorised members of staff. It is a dismissible offense to release any patient information without your express wishes.
Payment
Medical consultations are bulk billed direct to Medicare. Fees are only charged for non Medicare rebateable items for example dressing consumables and medicals for licences, insurance and pre-employment. Payment for these items is requested at the time of consultation by cash, cheque or credit card.
Prescriptions
Telephone requests for repeat prescriptions will not be provided without pre-arrangement with your doctor. As this service is not covered by Medicare, a fee of $5.00 per script is applied with a maximum of three items (cost $15.00) for this service.
Test Results
A follow up appointment is usually required to receive blood and x-ray results. Telephone advice will only be made by prior arrangement with your doctor.
Home Visits
Visits can be arranged in certain circumstances. Please contact the receptionist to discuss your needs. Remember, always call the ambulance service on 000, if you are experiencing severe pain, or illness at any time. We also advise to call 000 if your condition deteriorates whilst awaiting a scheduled home visit.
After Hours Services
THS Medical Centre is not able to provide a scheduled after hours service. Patients are requested to ring 000 in emergency situations. The nearest staffed 24 hour service is Albury Wodonga Health – Wodonga Campus, Vermont Street Wodonga, a 45 Km drive by road and they can be contacted on 02 6051 7350 Other after hours telephone services are the GP Helpline on 1800 022222 or Nurse on call ph 1300 60 60 124.
Reminder System
The Medical Centre is committed to preventative health care and offers a reminder service for routine screening and care appropriate for your needs. Please advise the staff if you would like to be included in this service.
