



The Australian General Practice Accredited Ltd (AGPAL) Medical Centre is co-located at the main health service building. The entrance is via the main reception area. Parking is available at the front of the main building or on Barree Street. Disable Parking is adjacent to the main entrance. The Medical Centre staff are employed by THS and consist of 1-2 Doctors, nurses and receptionists.
Services Available
Routine GP medical services with referrals to relevant medical specialists in Albury-Wodonga or larger centres for relevant ongoing care and advice. Referral to in-house services e.g district nusing, podiatry and physiotherapy, diabetic and asthma education, occupational therapy, home and community services, vaccinations – flu and pneumonia, both adult booster and routine child regimes. Visiting female doctor every 6 – 8 weeks for women's health and/or referral to the Women’s Health Nurse.
Surgery Hours
Monday to Friday 9am – 1pm and 2pm till 5pm. Appointments are necessary and can be made by telephoning 02 6071 5270 or 02 6071 2627. Please advise the receptionist of your anticipated needs so sufficient time is allocated. Full medical examinations, insurance examinations, removal of lesions etc. require a double time booking. Whilst the doctors aim to keep patients waiting times as short as possible, delays may occur if doctors are called to manage urgent cases or emergencies.
Privacy and Confidentiality of Health Information
Staff endeavour to maintain privacy and confidentiality of your medical record at all times. Access to any information held by the services is only available to authorized members of staff.
Payment
Payment is requested at the time of consultation by cash, cheque or credit card – Mastercard, Visa. Only Pensioners and children, under 16 years of age are bulked billed. Health card holders are charged reduced rates. Please discuss with the reception staff if you are experiencing difficulties with payment of the fees charged.
Prescriptions
Telephone requests for repeat prescriptions will not be provided without pre-arrangement with your doctor. As this service is not covered by Medicare, a fee of $5.00 per script is applied with a maximum of three items (cost $15.00) for this service.
Test Results
A follow up appointment is usually required to receive blood and x-ray results. Telephone advice will only be made with authorization or schedule of your doctor.
Home Visits
Visits can be arranged in certain circumstances. Please contact the receptionist to discuss your needs. Remember, always call the ambulance service on 000, if you are experiencing severe pain, or illness at any time.
After Hours Services
Due to the limited numbers of doctors employed at the THS and the unavailability of a local locum service, it is not possible to provide a scheduled after hours service. A triage service is available at the THS on 02) 6071 5200 or through the government sponsored Nurse on Call Service 1300 606 024. The nearest staffed 24 hourservice is Albury Wodonga Health – Wodonga Campus, Vermont Street Wodonga, a 45 Km drive by road. If URGENT CARE is required please telephone the Rural Ambulance Service on 000.
Reminder System
The Medical Centre is committed to preventative health care and offers a reminder service for routine screening and care appropriate for your needs. Please advise the staff if you would like to be included in this service.
