Tallangatta Health Service has an Urgent Care Room that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Typically, in business hours patients attend the Medical Centre.
The Urgent Care room provides a service to those in our local community seeking urgent medical attention. It is mostly utilised for those medical concerns people would normally see a GP for after hours. It is staffed by a registered nurse who will assess your condition.
Telehealth support is provided by the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) where a doctor can consult over a computer screen to our Urgent Care room patient.
If you are seriously ill you should ring for an ambulance on 000.
Ambulance Transfers from the Urgent Treatment Room
We urge everyone to hold a current ambulance subscription as ambulance transfer may be in the range of $2,000 one way to Wodonga for an emergency transfer. Patients are responsible for this fee.
Pensioners and health care card holders should check with Centrelink about ambulance cover.
Albury Wodonga Health
It may be that you present to our Urgent Care and on assessment you require a higher level of care than Tallangatta Health Service can offer. You will be offered a transfer to Albury Wodonga Health by ambulance at your cost.
